Mukilteo Lane Repair
To those residents that walk or used to drive Mukilteo Lane, the fact that it has failed in sections (the base under the pavement is disappearing) has been known for some time.
The City is in the process of repairing the latest failure, just west of the Everett City limits toward the bottom of the hill. The geotechnical investigation of the failure revealed voids under the pavement necessitating the closure of the street until it could be repaired. Repairs will consist of placing a soldier pile retaining wall, replacing the foundation under the failed asphalt and repaving.
A slightly wider pavement/shoulder section will be created through the repair area, something that will be appreciated by walkers in the area. Once this repair is done, the street will be reopened. Bids for the work will be sought in January of this year (2010)
