61st Street Culvert Replacement
This is a project at the very bottom of Smuggler’s Gulch where the road crosses the creek to access a number of homes on a private drive. The existing culvert routinely plugs, causing the creek to flow over the road and cause road blockages. The problem is leading to a complete failure of the road. Thus, the culvert will be replaced in such a way that future problems are reduced or eliminated.
The City is presently working with the State Department of Fish and Wildlife (DFW) on what that fix will look like. They are looking for removal of a fish obstruction. While that is a consideration, there are also stream stability issues that also must be factored in.
It had been our goal to complete this repair this year (2011) but we realized that it will now take another year for us to complete design and work within allowable seasonal limitations. For further information, contact City Hall -(425) 263-8000.
